Steven Michael Herrera, of Plano, Texas, was sentenced to three concurrent terms of seven months confinement in the state jail on March 20, 2007. These sentences were imposed based upon his plea of guilty to three counts of money laundering valued at between $1500 and $20,000 in Cause Nos. F-06-00562-Q, F-06-00563-Q, F-06-00565-Q, in the 204th Judicial District Court of Dallas County, Texas. Herrera was also sentenced to ten years of community supervision and ordered to pay restitution of $33,375 in Cause No. F-06-00564-Q based upon his plea of guilty to aggregated theft of property in the amount of $20,000 or more but less than $100,000.00. These convictions were based on Herrera having falsely held himself out as an authorized representative of an oil and gas company and whereby he persuaded individuals to send money for the purpose of investing in the company's oil and gas projects.
