On January 9, 2001 James De La Garza , a San Antonio resident and parolee, pled no contest to securities fraud and theft charges in the 399th District Court of Bexar County. Mr. De La Garza was indicted in June 2000 for a scheme to solicit investors to invest in instruments issued by Quanalyze Equity Funding, Inc. and secured by forged certificates of deposit. Mr. De La Garza has four prior felonies for theft and securities fraud. Mr. De La Garza will be sentenced later this year by Judge Raymond Angelini of the 187th District Court.The cause number was 2000 CR-3148. The matter was investigated by the Texas Securities Board in cooperation with the FDIC, Bexar County District Attorney's Office, the FBI and United States Attorney. De La Garza's alleged accomplice, Mario Garza, was convicted on related federal charges and is awaiting sentencing. Mr. Garza, a former employee of Bank Of America, was the subject of a prior revocation action by the Texas Securities Board.
