Corey Dwayne Minor, of Desoto, Texas, was sentenced on October 4, 2007, in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas Sherman Division, Cause No. 4:07CR48, after having pled guilty to one count of mail fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud investors. Mr. Minor was found to have defrauded at least 64 investors out of approximately $5.4 million, from approximately 2003 to 2006, by representing to the investors that they could purchase particular investments through Mr. Minor. Instead of purchasing investments for these investors, Mr. Minor used the money for his personal benefit. In order to conceal his use of the money, Mr. Minor provided falsified account statements which created the appearance that Mr. Minor had actually purchased investments on behalf of the investors. Mr. Minor was sentenced to 20 years in a federal prision, and ordered to pay $2.8 million to the investors as restitution.
